Build Update. The design is intended to be built upside down, sharpie style. Wire the stem. bend sides around the bulkheads and secure to transom. Then secure bottom stitching, tab, remove wires and finish bottom. Well, I tabbed the bottom and flipped it to double check all bulkheads and spreaders. Happy I did as it was not quite square. After squaring and double taping the inside chine I went ahead and fillet, tape and coated all the interior minus seat tops and forward deck. Then over she went again. Now happy that it is true and solid I rounded the chine and corners, double taped and covered the bottom in cloth. Filled the weave, faired, sanded, primed all and painted below the waterline. In a couple of days I will flip it again. I want to make sure the paint cured hard before the turn. Seems this build is mostly a waiting game. Wait for epoxy to cure, wait for fairing to cure, wait for paint to cure..... I think I'm on schedule to finish with enough time for shake down cruises on the lake. I will not show up with an untested boat. Thats it! Gary

Hi Gary The waiting to dry is no were as annoying to me as the amount of sanding you are about to do. I have a friend in upstate maine who works for a boat shop and he describes boat building as 90% sanding. do you have a flickr account or something with you pictures? p

Sorry Guys. No Flickr Account. I will look into it if I get a chance. Very busy here. I mentioned earlier that I have been building little campers. I put the last one on ebay. It sold and I got an order for another one. Now I have TWO projects going. The order for the custom camper needs to be done in 3 weeks. I am doing the best I can to be neat with the epoxy so I won't have to sand. Yea, Right! I have tried to do most of it wet on wet. It has reduced some of the sanding but.... Gary

10 Days and no work on the boat! I have been building the camper. I now have a Flickr Account. Lets see if this link works. Should be able to see all photos? http://www.flickr.com/photos/garyunger/4436072497/Gary Wow! Half a dozen edits to find the right link but I think I got it. Tried to get link that allowed browse of all photos uploaded. Not real hard to do, I'm just slow.

Hello Gary! Thanks for the link. Both look very good. That narrow bottom should go very quickly! I also like the little tear drop! Looking forward to trying her out.
Post more fotos to keep us up to date, please

Hey Bill, 2 sheets on her bottom. 4' widest on chine and 15' 5" transom to stem. Max beam is 6'. Looking forward to getting back to work on her. Temps now are kicking epoxy quick, so the remainder of the build should move right along. Sealed the camper today ( http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4030/4446660646_1c6feba8ee_m.jpg) in epoxy and it kicked faster than I could spread it. Burned a half pot before I knew it. E-mailed the owner that it will be ready in a week for pick up. Then it's back to the boat! Happy Camping, Better Sailing, Gary

Hey Gary, I do like those campers. Now, it you could manage to carry a boat on top of one, use camper till the launch site, then load camper onto boat as cabin and Abracadabra! ...A perfect synthesis!
I have surreptitiously started a boat. Rebecca is out of house for a month, maybe more, and left me money, (maybe on purpose?), so of course the outcome is predictable. See the last three or so posts here.http://moffitt1.wordpress.com/ to see what I am doing. No danger that I will use this in the OBX; don't think Chuck would want to share that cabin, even if it is big for a 15'er!
Please post more pics (and link-that IS handy) when more progress is made.
Here is the Aft cabin bulkhead-big... Un Abrazo, Bill

More Progress. Finished the last little camper in 3 weeks 2 days and back to the boat! Painted bottom, waxed to the chine, rolled it, trimmed out the storage compartments and flotation boxes with battens for seat tops, sealed all boxes with epoxy, and sanded. (I'll call the inside storage and flotation areas "workboat" finish. Ha.) Then primed all insides with Glidden "Gripper" Grey Primer. You can see how far the centerboard protrudes into the rear cockpit area and that it is offset to port. The mizzen sail will be off set to starboard the same 2" on centers. Clamps on bow are for foward deck frames. Still working on rub rails. Building up 1/4" laminates one layer a day for 4 days. Off to cutting out seat tops! Gary

Seat tops on and sanding in earnest has begun. I think it really looks big now. Guess the water will shrink that thought. More pics at Flickr Received notification today of my Duckworks order shipment. I'm no sure I got it all in one shot, but I tried. April 9th is delivery day of 2&1/2" aluminum tube for masts per plan. That's all for now, sure would like to know if I'm on schedule with this build. Any guesses as to how much more time will be needed? Gary
